Still, 9 nominations is not a small feat, Margot Robbie’s Barbie has reflected the prowess of being 2023’s most hyped film. Robbie has been an actor with the capability to play characters across genres and holds six Golden Globes to her name, but when it comes to the celebrity who achieved the award highest, Barbra Streisand is almost unbeatable.

If Margot Robbie’s Barbie were to win 10 Golden Globes following the nominations the movie had received, they would be able to match Barbra Streisand’s winning streak. Still, there would be one achievement short of beating the singer and actress and her glorious Golden Globes accolades. However, Barbie was far from going over that glorious record.

Streisand has an illustrious career to her name with several accolades, including her Golden Globes prowess. Following her cinematic venture while enjoying a successful career as a musician, Streisand won her first Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in the 1968 movie Funny Girl. Further, in 1976, she went on to become the first woman to be honored as a composer as she won her second Academy Award for writing the love theme from A Star Is Born

Among other accolades, Streisand became the first woman to write, produce, direct, and star in a major studio film with her 1983 flick Yentl. With an Oscar for Best Original Score, a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Musical, and Best Director for Yentl, it was the prowess of the star destined to uphold the glorious record in her later career. To date, Streisand is unbeatable, but Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep are just behind the legendary singer/actor with nine Golden Globes to their credit.

While Barbie was expected to take home at least a few awards at the 81st Golden Globes, winning the inaugural Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Award was no lesser feat. Of course, Barbie had far less competition in the category with an astounding $1.03 billion box office marvel to back the movie in the race.

Clearly, Barbie was the highest-grossing domestic and global release of 2023 under the banner of Warner Brothers, and the Golden Globes’ recognition has further elevated the prevailing status of the movie. Greta Gerwig accepted the inaugural award with grace alongside Robbie, America Ferrera, and Ryan Gosling.

“Thank you to everybody, all the Barbies and Kens in front of and behind the screen. It was the greatest, most joyful show of craftsmanship and passion I’ve ever seen,” Gerwig said (via Variety).

The director was also in awe of her partner Noah Baumbach, who also co-wrote the film, thanking him “for showing his inner Barbie girl” while appreciating Gosling “for going full-beach.” In the category, Barbie shined over Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, John Wick: Chapter 4, Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, and of course, Oppenheimer.
