Furiosa’s Box Office Predictions and Expectations
Furiosa is the first-ever Mad Max movie to make this record. While it may not surpass the iconic status of Fury Road, which boasts an impressive 97% critical consensus on Rotten Tomatoes, Furiosa serves as a fitting prequel.
However, Mad Max: Fury Road is still behind in the audience scores and holds a commanding audience score of 86%, while its predecessors Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome sit at 49%, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior at 86%, and the original Mad Max at 70% on Rotten Tomatoes.
In May 2015, Mad Max: Fury Road set the stage with previews grossing $3.7 million, and went on to debut with a whopping $45.4 million, securing the second spot for the weekend. Now, that the anticipation is at an all-time high for Furiosa, it is estimated to open at $40 million over its four-day opening as per Deadline.
Although it’s still early to make definitive statements, and a lot can change in the meantime, the film appears to be off to a promising start.
