Apart from being one of the Four Emperors, he is one of the most feared pirates in the series. Although he’s a strong and formidable pirate, his ambitions could get the best of him before he reaches Laugh Tale. Be it his crew or his sadism, both could lead to his eventual downfall.

The Devil Fruit users in Blackbeard’s Crew are a liability for his One Piece pursuit

Marshall D. Teach, also known as Blackbeard, appears as an antagonist in One Piece written by Eiichiro Oda. He is one of the Four Emperors of the Sea and a former member of Whitebeard’s crew. Apart from being a Yonko, he is one of the strongest characters in the series. Additionally, he’s the only pirate who can wield two Devil Fruits simultaneously.

His character is inspired by the notorious yet famous English pirate Edward Teach who existed in the 1700s. To say the least, Blackbeard lives up to his notorious personality. This is clear when he kills Whitebeard and Thatch to attain the devil fruits. He has an utter disregard for his crew as seen when he hands Ace to the Marines.

Although his devil fruits allow him to harness shock waves and darkness, Blackbeard has his vulnerabilities as well. This extends to his crew members as well. A YouTube channel named @The.Animaze explained how his crew and their devil fruit weaknesses could prove lethal in this video :

While most of his crew members are devil fruit users, Maki, Tori, and Kikipatsu do not possess any devil fruit abilities. Whether or not they are vulnerable to water is uncertain. Nevertheless, Blackbeard’s motives and ambitions outweigh his weaknesses and liabilities.

Except for Luffy and Shanks, several pirates have their eyes set on the legendary treasure of Gol D Roger. Among them is Blackbeard whose ambitions know no bounds. From the siege on Amazon Lily to capturing Koby, his opportunism exceeds his loyalty toward his crewmates.

To add to that, he is among the pirates in the series who have the highest bounties. Apart from that, some speculations point to him possessing around three poneglyphs. This is clear through his battle with Big Mom at Whole Cake Island, as well as Trafalgar D. Law at Winner Island. Furthermore, this adds to the plausibility of these speculations.

Besides that, his imprisonment of Charlotte Pudding proves his ambitions of attaining the treasure. Apart from Nico Robin and Kozuki Sukiyaki, the series hints at Charlotte’s possible hidden ability to read poneglyphs. Her cartography skills make her an asset for the Blackbeard Pirates. While there is no confirmation of Blackbeard’s possession of poneglyphs, his actions hint he might be close to Laugh Tale.
