Sylvester Stallone on doing Rambo: Last Blood at 73

The action star was 36 years old when he did his first Rambo film. It was one of the biggest hits of the time and grossed $156 million worldwide. The film was directed by Ted Kotcheff, starring Sylvester Stallone as Vietnam War veteran John Rambo. He was also the co-writer of the film. The film also included Richard Crenna and Brian Dennehy in prominent roles.

The actors chose to make a comeback in the franchise 37 years after the first release. The movie was named Rambo: Last Blood. The legendary actor brought back the Vietnam veteran for the final part of the franchise.

On being asked about the reason for making the final film of the franchise after several years, the actor told Variety,

“The warrior can never find peace. He just can’t.”

The actor also added that he cannot avoid the emotional and physical vulnerabilities that come with aging. He added,  

“He’s always getting hurt, but now he’s getting older, so he’s getting hurt even more.”

Rambo: Last Blood was released in 2019 and it also featured Paz Vega, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Adriana Barraza, Yvette Monreal, Genie Kim aka Yenah Han, Joaquín Cosío, and Oscar Jaenada. The film grossed $91.5 million worldwide.

Sylvester Stallone talked about his next Rocky film

Sylvester Stallone revealed in the interview that he is at work on another Rocky installment. The Expendables star added that the film was based in Asia.

“I may be doing a movie in China soon. Top secret. A big one.”

Without sharing many details, the actor revealed that the movie would be set in Hong Kong. He shared that his character would be “definitely an out-of-sync, two-generations-behind, definitely-wouldn’t-use-Alexa kind of guy.”

He added,

“Right now, a lot of guys go over there [to China] to do action movies, but I think you could do more than that – do more suspense, more of a story. I think I’ve found the combination. It’s more like a ‘Blade Runner,’ because when you’re dealing with two mixed cultures at the same time….I don’t want to tip it off, but it’s f—ing cool.”

The details of the movie have not been revealed.
