“I’m doing Frankenstein. We’re working on it. We start shooting in February, and it’s a movie I have been wanting to do for 50 years since I saw the first Frankenstein. I had an epiphany, and it’s basically a movie that required a lot of growth and a lot of tools that I couldn’t have done 10 years ago. Now I’m brave or crazy enough or something, and we’re gonna tackle it. It’s Oscar Isaac, Andrew Garfield, Christoph Waltz, Mia Goth, and we’re working on it.”

This is really interesting news for fans as Waltz is a two-time Oscar Winner. The film already had powerhouse actors and now with the addition of Waltz, the possibilities and potential of this film have become more exciting. The film is sure to become a major awards contender in the future.

Guillermo del Toro Did Not Direct Pacific Rim: Uprising Due to A Missed Payment

Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 film sci-fi film Pacific Rim was a hit at the box office. It spawned a sequel called Pacific Rim: Uprising which he did not return to direct. At a recent Q&A with Collider, he revealed why he didn’t return for the sequel. He said,

“We were getting ready to do it, it was different from the first, but it had a continuation of many of the things that I was trying to do. Then what happened is—I mean, this is why life’s crazy, right?—they had to give a deposit for the stages at 5 p.m. or we would lose the stages in Toronto for many months. So, I said, ‘Don’t forget we’re gonna lose the stages,’ and five o’clock came and went, and we lost the stages. They said, ‘Well, we can shoot it in China.’ And I go, ‘What do you mean we?’ [Laughs] ‘I’ve gotta go do Shape of Water.'”

It seems the missed payment for the sound stage and the scheduling conflicts with him doing The Shape of Water prevented him from returning for the sequel. His upcoming Frankenstein film is getting a lot of hype and excitement among fans about the casting and the potential of the film. It remains to be seen whether del Toro manages to pull it off.
