It’s not just the Marvel Fans that are screaming with excitement today. A lot of Star Wars shows have been announced by Disney during the Disney Investor’s Day event. Star Wars: Andor, Star Wars: Vision, The Bad Batch, Ahsoka Tano, Rangers Of The New Republic, The Acolyte, Lando, A Droid Story, and of course the live-action Obi-Wan Kenobi series. There’s a lot to look forward to. But buckle up because we might have something to knock those socks right out of your feet.

According to sources, there will be another rematch between Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. This has been all but confirmed by Lucasfilm’s official footage description.

Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series will see the return of Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor. They will be reprising their roles of Darth Vader and Obi-Wan in the newly announced show. The show will take us to events following the aftermath of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker’s last duel in Revenge Of The Sith. The story will be of Obi-Wan Kenobi looking after Luke Skywalker on the planet of Tatooine. Of course he will be on a self-imposed exile.

Deborah Chow is gong to direct the new live action show. The massive Star Wars slate for the near future leaves no breathing space for Star Wars fans. The Kenobi-Vader rematch will be the first time we see these heavyweights together since the Battle at Mustafar. Kenobi defeated Skywalker because he held the “high ground”. The battle left Anakin emotionally and physically scarred, cementing his transition into Darth Vader.

The footage description (via Comicbook) revealed during Disney’s Investor’s Day announcement gave us some major clues. The duel is termed the “rematch of the century” and there’s also a very intriguing concept art. Deborah Chow has herself promised that the two warriors of the Force will meet again in a fight. Chow said “[We will] definitely see Obi-Wan and Darth Vader get into it again.

The concept art gave us other hints for what the story might look like. Obi-Wan Kenobi does not stay on Tatooine throughout the series. The concept artworks confirm he journeys beyond the planet. Another artwork showed Darth Vader communicating with what looked like Emperor Palpatine through a Hologram.

Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy also confirmed the news recently. Some BTS footage shown to investors and select media members further confirmed  it. Ewan McGregor’s Kenobi will be fighting Hayden Christensen’s Vader in the upcoming series.
