Hi-Defintion Official Modern Warfare 3 Art, and Release Date Leaks, Further Cementing it as Worst Kept Gaming Secret

Modern Warfare 3 is expected to be the Call of Duty game for 2023, and while only five months remain in the year, every other day seems to have a new leak and rumor about the first person shooter. The two most recent leaks are giving fans an idea of what the art for the game will look like as well as when an official announcement might take place. Since Modern Warfare 3 will likely be entering the arena against other Fall releases such as: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Alone in the Dark, Alan Wake 2, Assassins Creed Mirage, and more, gamers are looking for every possible detail. This would also mean that the window for advertising Modern Warfare 3 is growing smaller every day.

The first aforementioned Modern Warfare 3 leak relates to promotional art posted by @Earthbound_Fan via Twitter/X. There are two images, one shows a red snake slithering through the holes of a metal skull. The other is an image of Captain Price with the new Modern Warfare 3 logo. It appears based on these images, red will be the highlighted color on most art and promotional material. This would be similar to how green was highlighted in Modern Warfare 2 advertising. Unfortunately, it appears the original Twitter/X post was removed by the social media platform. However, at the time of this writing, it is still available on Imgur and the link is attached at the bottom of this article.

The second leak comes from Twitter/X user, @charlieINTEL, whose account is known for Modern Warfare 3 leaks. The following was posted about a potential release date:

“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III

Reveal Expected: August 17 in Warzone

More info coming next week.”

The post also includes the same art with Captain Price at the forefront, and is currently still on Twitter/X. If this information is accurate, Modern Warfare 3 may be getting an official announcement very soon. How Activision might intend to tell gamers through Call of Duty: Warzone is still undetermined, but it promises to be a major event in the gaming community. As Modern Warfare 2 enters season five of post game DLC, it seems Activision may be slowing down and moving in a new direction toward future titles.

If Call of Duty 2023 is Modern Warfare 3, What Is Next For the Franchise?

Modern Warfare 3 could be officially announced on August 17, as new game art appears to have leaked.

If leakers and other insiders are correct in assuming Modern Warfare 3 is coming before the end of the year, some might be wondering what is next for the franchise. Activision has announced there will be a Call of Duty game in 2024 and the suspicion is it will be part of the Black Ops series. More specifically, gamers believe the setting of next year‘s Call of Duty will be the Persian Gulf War. This would fit the timeline for the Black Ops series and would be a new history for Call of Duty to explore.

Outside of the 2023 and 2024 titles, gamers have few details for the future or Call of Duty. That said, it appears the extremely popular FPS isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon. Call of Duty has been around since 2003 and has spanned over 20 games. Following the recent decision in Microsoft’s FTC case, Sony recently made a deal to keep the Activision titles on PlayStation consoles, for the next ten years. However, when the deal eventually concludes, there is no telling whether Microsoft will want to continue allowing Call of Duty games on other consoles or if it will become exclusive to the Xbox. Gamers could see a very different scenario for playing the series when that decade deal is up.
