The Boys Season 4, Episode 5 titled Beware of the Jabberwock, My Son, didn’t shy away from taking a dig at superhero franchises like Marvel and DC while giving us a quick showdown of flying farm animals.

In the fifth episode, Butcher informs the team about a Supe Virus invented at Godolkin University. This could be a game-changer in their fight against the Supes but Victoria Neuman, a powerful figure with her own agenda, has already got her hands on it.

On their hunt to find the formula, Butcher and Mother’s Milk (MM) visit ex-Vought president Stan Edgar in prison (who’s also Neuman’s adoptive father) to offer him freedom and custody of his granddaughter Zoe in return for getting some information on the virus.

Edgar directs them to a secretive upstate farm which is Neuman’s hidden laboratory. This particular location also serves as one of the show’s nastiest sequences, as the team finds the farm in a chaotic state upon their arrival.

It is showcased that the farm animals had been injected with Compound V (V-d up), and have now escalated out of control. After the team survives an attack by V-d up chickens, Butcher calls it a “Kentucky fried f—-ing massacre.” This was more or less, one of the grotesque scenes in the series, but it also showcased its signature element, blending horror with comic, thus giving the audience what they anticipated from the new season.

The Boys is available on Prime Video.
