Old School RuneScape may currently be the most popular version of the game, but it’s not without its flaws, resulting in a lot of frustrated players. It’s always a risky move when it comes to monitoring online titles and banning gamers who may or may not be following the terms and conditions. However, plenty of players are apparently getting banned from playing the MMORPG, and most of them seem to be confused about what they did that warranted a ban from the developers.
Another aspect that fans are done with is Old School RuneScape‘s bot detection system, and combined with the bans and unappealable decisions, players are giving up on the game.
Fans Are Frustrated With Old School RuneScape Bans
The RuneScape Facebook account tried to be humorous with one of its recent posts by connecting with the community and asking its players about their preferred play styles. There are numerous ways of playing the MMORPG, which is an aspect that made it popular in the first place, as gamers can either choose to go on exploration missions, carry out raids with their friends, or just play it by themselves for their own in-game stats.
Old School RuneScape‘s post was accompanied by a video meme showcasing two different account types and how players can interact with the title, but what started off as an amusing share ended up becoming a complaint dump for fans.
Since Old School RuneScape doesn’t allow players to appeal their cases when they get banned, the last resort was for them to let off their frustration in the comments. One such annoyed player stated that the game bans “everyone these days,” explaining that they got banned “from macroing,” but they “don’t even know what that is.”
Which is a huge problem plaguing the title at the moment because it’s apparently just coming up with new reasons to hand out bans without really clarifying why it happened.
No One Seems Fond of the Game’s Bot Detection System
One of the main reasons for players randomly getting banned from Old School RuneScape is its bot detection system, which is run by bots and is really not as efficient as the developers may have originally thought. A player claimed that the game’s bot detector “falsely accused” them of real world trading, or RWT for short, which apparently took place when their “account got hacked and banned.”
To make matters worse, there seems to be “no way of appealing this,” which leaves players without much option.
A potential solution could be the developers checking the relevant IP addresses while handing out bans in the case of hacking, but Old School RuneScape has to come up with something quickly before it starts losing players.
