Olivia Munn is an incredible actress and a former television personality. The American actress first rose to fame back in 2010 when she worked as a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Munn went on to become a full-time actress and left her television hosting days behind her back in 2012 after she played the role of Sloan Sabbith in HBO’s drama series, The Newsroom. Despite, her having a good career, Munn has made some questionable choices in her acting career so far.
According to sources, Olivia Munn allegedly turned down the role of Deadpool’s girlfriend, Vanessa Carlysle, in Deadpool to play a role in X-Men: Apocalypse that no one even remembers.

The Ryan Reynolds movie, Deadpool, became the most successful movie of the X-Men franchise as it grossed a total of almost $783.1 million which was later surpassed by its own sequel, Deadpool 2, in 2018. Morena Baccarin played the role of Deadpool’s girlfriend, Vanessa Carlysle, and was the lead actress in the movie. However, Fox Studios had someone else in mind for the role of Vanessa initially.
After the release of the movie, it was reported that the role of Vanessa was initially offered to Olivia Munn first but she turned it down. According to sources, Munn turned down the role because she didn’t want to play the role of eye candy yet again. Shortly thereafter, she was offered the role of Betsy Braddock aka Psylocke in the X-Men: Apocalypse movie which she ended up taking.
The Magic Mike actress took up the role of Psylocke in the X-Men: Apocalypse which no one even remembers
After turning down the role of Vanessa Carlysle in Deadpool, Olivia Munn was offered yet another role by Fox Studios. The role was of one of Apocalypse’s Horsemen, Betsy Braddock aka Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse which Munn ended up taking. Munn also talked about her taking of Psylocke in an interview and said,
“I said, ‘Is there a fight scene?’ The fight scene could be her monologue. I thought Psylocke was always one of the most lethal characters, and I said, ‘Yes, as long as you’re not using her to be the eye candy. She has really powerful abilities.’“
Psylocke did not even have any important dialogue in the movie and just goes off on her own after the film’s climactic battle.
Olivia Munn clearly made the wrong choice by taking up the role of Psylocke instead of Vanessa Carlysle as Morena Baccarin has recently confirmed that she will be reprising her role as Deadpool’s girlfriend once again in Deadpool 3. Hugh Jackman will also be reprising his role as Wolverine in the sequel for the first time in Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Deadpool 3 will be released on November 8, 2024.
