Margot Robbie, then 24, essayed the role of Naomi Lapagila, Di Caprio’s character Jordan Befort’s second wife, but she was not the only character considered for the role. Olivia Wilde had also auditioned for the role, which she did not get because she was “too sophisticated” for the role. However, she learned that her not getting the role was for a different reason altogether.

The actress, then 27 when the film was being shot, was considered too old for the role, though she initially thought she was rejected for being ‘too sophisticated’. Wilde, speaking on The Howard Stern Show, talked about her audition process, and what she heard from her agent after the fact. She said:

“The funniest thing I heard recently was I had heard for a part that I was too sophisticated. And I was like, ‘Oh, that sounds nice.’ I like that feedback. I didn’t get the part, but I’m a very sophisticated person. And then I found out later that they actually said ‘old.’ “

The actress revealed that this was in fact for the 2013 Scorsese flick. However, the details of the audition end there. Her audition for the roles was not completely futile as the actor ended up getting cast in Vinyl, a period piece set in 1970s New York, for which Scorsese directed the first episode and served as executive producer.

Olivia Wilde, according to Deadline, will be directing an upcoming Christmas flick, titled Naughty. The film will be produced by LuckChap, the production house belonging to Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara. The script has been penned by Cocaine Bear alum Jimmy Brian. The film seems to be in good hands with Wilde, and with LuckyChap, given that it has had a historic year with Robbie’s film Barbie.

The film is described as being ‘Bridesmaids‘ in the North Pole. The film will follow a character named Mallory, who must get Santa Claus to testify on her behalf in her divorce hearing against her gaslighting ex. Santa Claus’s testimony will result in her winning custody of her son. No casting has been announced for the film yet. The film would probably have to commence production soon if it wishes to make the date of Christmas 2024.
