“I’d done the whole process. She didn’t know what I did until we were driving through Times Square. She goes, ‘What do you do for a living?’”

However, unfortunately, that’s where the conversation took an unexpected turn. Boyega revealed that when his date asked him about his profession while driving through Times Square, the two of them found themselves directly underneath a massive billboard. And to his surprise, the billboard featured his character, Finn, brandishing a lightsaber.

How did the billboard affect John Boyega’s date?

Boyega humorously revealed how he told his date what he did for a living and confessed to blocking her on his phone after that. He admitted that the image on the billboard seemed to have a profound effect on her. “I looked up and I said, that! Me, with a saber…I blocked her on my phone.”

When the show’s host Graham Norton prompted Boyega to share more, asking if that was the end of his romance, the Star Wars actor explained, “Yeah, I mean that picture itself just affected her kind of stance..”

However, he was soon interjected by fellow actor and comedian Amy Schumer who quipped, “Once you see a guy with a huge saber, the thing is…you get over him. What do you do? (laughs)”
