Chadwick Boseman’s portrayal of Black Panther was one of the greatest iterations of the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His passing left a huge void not only in the franchise but also in the hearts of fans.
There had been a lot of rumors circulating that the studio could potentially revive the character in future installments, particularly in the upcoming Avengers saga. In fact, fans have already suggested one actor from the Black Adam franchise to take on the role.

In an interview with The Examiner via Comic Vine, Hodge expressed his love for the character of Black Panther. He claimed to have read the comic books, and when Marvel announced that he would join the MCU, the actor felt very ecstatic.
“I want the fans to know that the one role I really want to play is Black Panther. I grew up loving the Marvel world and grew up on martial arts. I still train. When Black Panther came around, he was almost like an African American Batman.”
The actor has also been very vocal about bringing Black Panther into the world because of diversity and representation. He told TV Line:
“How many African-American kids, or Latin kids, any kids of any other culture or ethnic group, can look at somebody up there and say, ‘Wow, I could be that.’ We don’t have that very often at all. In the comic book world, there are a few African-American characters, they just need to explore them.”
As someone who grew up following the story of Black Panther, Hodge revealed he found a certain connection with the character, and it made him feel that he could also become a superhero.
“I grew up in a Marvel universe, and Black Panther was my connection to make me feel like I could be a superhero. And The Avengers [movie] falls right into it because The Ultimate Avengers 2 [comic book series] is how Black Panther gets introduced, so it would flow naturally.”
Hodge’s enthusiasm to snag the role was evident even before Chadwick Boseman wore the vibranium suit, and this is why fans think he could possibly take on the mantle.
Will There Be Black Panther 3?
The future of the franchise had been uncertain for quite some time until director Ryan Coogler decided to push through with the sequel. Now that he has finished Wakanda Forever, he addressed via Variety the potential of a third installment:
“I love making movies, but to quote a character in our movie, I gave this everything. I’m at that place where I think I’ve got this press tour in me and then I’ve got to sit down and reflect. Probably cry a lot, because I’ve been holding that back. And then from there, figure out whatever’s next.”
It remains to be seen what Marvel Studios has planned for Black Panther as replacing Chadwick Boseman still seems to affect many fans.
