Scarlett Johansson and Tom Cruise will star in a remake of Clint Eastwood’s The Gauntlet at Warner Bros, directed by Christopher McQuarrie!

Eastwood starred in The Gauntlet as a police officer assigned to accompany an escort to Las Vegas to serve as a witness. The story is pretty predictable – things would get messed up and chaos would ensue.

Christopher McQuarrie once told Empire of his plans to work on another version of Reacher that is more violent and gruesome. Fans have since embraced R-rated movies thanks to successful franchises like Deadpool and Joker.

Tom and I were talking about, had the series continued, to take Reacher to a place where, in the post-Deadpool, post-Joker world, Reacher could have been an R-rated movie and an R-rated franchise and really fed into the brutality of those books. We were fully ready to lean into that.

He also teased fans by saying the project will be “very un-Tom character” which means they will witness a different kind of Tom Cruise that they’ve never seen before. It remains a mystery whether this project will push through in the near future as the actor still has another Mission: Impossible sequel coming in 2025.

Tom Cruise Is Eager To Work With Scarlett Johansson

As per earlier report, Cruise will be teaming up with Marvel star Scarlett Johansson. If this will be confirmed soon, then it is an absolute dream come true for the actress. She has previously confessed in an interview that she has always wanted to work with the Top Gun actor.

Fortunately, Cruise feels the same way. He shared in a conversation with ET Online that he would love to work with Johansson.

I’d love to make a movie with her! I’ve been wanting to make movie with her. She is enormously talented. So charismatic, versatile. She has great physical ability obviously.

At this point, a confirmation from Warner Bros is all that fans need. Cruise has become so attached to his work on the Mission: Impossible films. He is truly impressive with the stunts and fight scenes, but the audience would like to see more range in his acting skills.

The remake of The Gauntlet would definitely bring out all the qualities that made Cruise one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood.

The Gauntlet is available to watch on Prime Video.
