With Leslye Headland being the creator of The Acolyte and Amandla Stenberg portraying the lead role, fans are unimpressed with how they handled the concept of The Force in the recently released series.

George Lucas’ Understanding of The Force Runs Far Deep!

The Acolyte became notably infamous as a battle between the critics and the OG fans of the Star Wars franchise raged on. From review-bombarding to conflicting answers, the series suffered greatly.

To put this into perspective, The Acolyte received a rating of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes (critics’ score) and a meager 3.3/10 on IMDB (audience score). The difference is quite vast and fans are clearly annoyed.

One fan took the comparison to newer heights. Editing a video, a fan uploaded on their social media account on X and showcased George Lucas talking about The Force.

The scene would later cut to The Acolyte creator Leslye Headland and star Amandla Stenberg talking about their version of it and the difference is quite visible!

So sorry. But the Dark Side feels is…boring [indescernible audio], said Amandla Stenberg.

The scene later cuts to George Lucas talking about The Dark Side and how deep his understanding of the concept was.

The Dark Side is pleasure, biological, and temporary, and easy to achieve. The Light Side is joy, everlasting, and, difficult to achieve. One is selfless, one is selfish and you wanna keep them balanced.

Check out the full video here. Case in point, there is a vast difference between George Lucas’ version of The Dark Side and the current Star Wars franchise might be handling it the wrong way.

Taking inspiration from Mexican hairstyles for Princess Leia to defending his franchise against people trying to take him down, George Lucas has done quite many things over the years. And as per the director himself, “Nobody understood the force” better than him.

George Lucas Was The Only One Who Understood The Force

His words, not ours. Well, obviously since he is the creator of the universe that Star Trek is set in, George Lucas would know better than everyone else about what The Force actually is.

After selling his Star Wars franchise to Disney, Lucas tried to live a calm life in retirement. However, the director couldn’t help but get himself hurt by what the current films and series had been doing.

As per a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Lucas recently revealed that the current franchise is not doing good and has deviated significantly from what he had originally expected.

I was the one who really knew what Star Wars was … who actually knew this world, because there’s a lot to it. The Force, for example, nobody understood the Force.

He further continued,

When they started other ones after I sold the company, a lot of the ideas that were in [the original] sort of got lost. But that’s the way it is. You give it up, you give it up.

Despite struggles, low ratings, and, controversial feministic comments, the Star Wars franchise is trying hard to get back on its feet. The recent release of The Acolyte proves that the franchise has quite some miles to go.

Upon its release, The Acolyte received a rating of 3.3/10 on IMDB and a whopping 85% on Rotten Tomatoes. With the next episode slated for a release date of 2 July, The Acolyte is available to stream on Disney+ in the U.S.
