It’s hard to imagine the glory days of the silver screen in modern times without the presence of Game of Thrones in the picture. Arguably the best and most ambitious project in television history, the show brought in a revolution that was hard to even comprehend until it was done. And so far, the ripples it created have been stretching far and wide, changing small screen forever.

Yet despite this unprecedented level of success, the original creators of the show David Benioff and Dan Weiss had no intentions of returning for the prequel series of their show House of the Dragon. But when questioned about returning for a Jon Snow sequel spin-off series, the creators weren’t opposed to the idea at all.

Calling the original Game of Thrones series a successful silver-screen venture would be doing it injustice, as the show was an entire phenomenon in itself. But original series creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss had done all that they wanted to do with the eight seasons of the series, and moved on from the project, not returning for the House of the Dragon spin-off.

But despite this, they didn’t seem too objected to returning for another spin-off in the future. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, both Benioff and Weiss talked about their upcoming Netflix project titled 3 Body Problem, where interviewer James Hibbered asked them whether they would return to HBO for the rumored Jon Snow spin-off series the studios were planning with Kit Harington as the lead.

They said that at the moment, they had no plans to do so, but in the future, when all of them were old, they might just make it happen. Weiss said:

“Maybe when we’re 80 and Kit’s approaching retirement, he can throw that cloak on again with real gray in his beard,”

Benioff added:

“One last ride …”

Thus, they may not have outright rejected the idea, but fans should not keep their hopes up for that happening anytime soon.

It doesn’t need to be put into words, but the reason why the show became such a worldwide sensation, the likes of which were never witnessed before, was the exceptional creation of the entire show as a whole.

The introduction and subsequent expansion of the world of Westeros adapted from George R.R. Martin’s literary works were executed with finesse and perfection that drew the audience in and retained them for that one more episode. Along with that, the diverse character design and development go hand-in-hand with the complex yet interesting lore of The Seven Kingdoms, leaving the fans begging for more.
