According to a new report from a local Korean outlet, SportsSeoul from journalist Kim Hyeon-deok, Netflix‘s Bloodhounds is getting renewed for another season. While their confirmation surely is great news for the action-drama fandom, it didn’t scoop much into what the new season has to offer.

As per the report translated into English, the outlet stated,

“‘Hounds’ has confirmed production of Season 2. Lead actors Woo Do-hwan and Lee Sang-i, who gained great popularity by showing off their bromance in Season 1, will also join Season 2.”

The outlet also revealed the production timeline, sharing that it is set to begin filming “in the second half of this year.” While this would surely brim fans with happiness, the streaming giant is yet to announce the same.

Given that the Hallyu wave has been a popular phenomenon across the world, viewers are keen on exploring South Korean dramas, popularly referred to as K-Dramas. As Netflix globally distributes its originally produced content, it takes leverage in greater creative freedom, meaning more gore and violent themes.

It is the reason why Bloodhounds captivated audiences’ attention as it harmonizes the violent themes with optimism. That particular trait makes it similar to a cult-classic franchise starring our legendary actor, Sylvester Stallone.

If you’re a fan of Sylvester Stallone‘s Rocky franchise, this show would surely going to be a fun watch. The streaming project delves deep into the characters’ depth rather than boxing itself, just like the popular franchise. Initially fighting for their lives against corruption, the protagonists soon do it by choice to share optimism.

The show received positive acclaim from the global audience as it garnered 27.97 million viewing hours within 3 days of its release. That feat led the show to rank 2nd in Netflix’s Global TOP 10 TV category (non-English) before ranking first in the TOP 10 list.

However, the show’s lead stars contributed majorly to its widespread success as they went through extensive training to prepare for their roles.

According to About.Netflix.com, the Tempted star tried to eat four meals a day.

I trained extensively before and after filming, gaining about 10kg. I believe viewers will notice the changes in my physique throughout the series.”

Whereas his co-star, who made his debut in the action genre, trained intensely for his left-handed stance. He was also on a strict diet of brown rice, chicken breast, sriracha sauce, and zero-sugar soda. Talking about his prep for the role, he stated,

“I never went to the gym so diligently in my life until now. I felt as if I had become an athlete.”

The Netflix series revolves around two young boxers: Kim Geon-woo (Woo) and Hong Woo-jin (Lee), who get involved in the world of loan sharking as Smile Capital company takes advantage of Geon-woo’s mother, Yoon So-yeo’s financial status to sign an unfair contract. Later, they threaten her to pay the money she can’t possibly earn, which leads the protagonists to fight rather than flee.
