The Boys has placed a tight grip on superhero fanatics with its amazing slew of characters and storyline since its debut in 2019. However, there are some characters that, even when newly debuted, can make a huge mark on the audience with the amazing intensity and realness that they play the role with. One such right-wing superhero character was introduced in season 4 of the show, namely Firecracker. The role played by Valorie Curry is the newest addition as a member of The Seven.

While these characters helped smash several Amazon Prime records, they also had their fair share of criticism. The most notable one is getting chastised for being overly left-wing. Now, the actress behind Firecracker has a few words to add in the entire fiasco.

Valorie Curry offers her thoughts on the criticism that The Boys has been receiving

What the showrunner Eric Kripke described as the “best and craziest superheroes ever written” appears to give Firecracker full honor. However, the character on screen and the actress behind it are a great illustration of an actor’s commitment to the role, as evidenced by the fact that Firecracker utilizes her platform to preach explicit conspiracy theories and anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric, whereas the actress, on the other hand, identifies as a lesbian, providing a stark contrast to her role.

But for Curry, this contrast is what makes her enjoy playing Firecracker even more. In an exclusive interview with The Advocate, the Twilight star added

I love that I get to play her because I think it should be one of our own that gets to make an a** out of her, that gets to satirize her and make a clown out of her

In addition, she stated that whatever her character says on screen is influenced by real-life political people rather than her own words, and she praised the writers for making it realistic. But for her character, Eric Kripke himself admitted in an interview with Variety that Firecracker’s character was greatly influenced by American far-right politician Marjorie Taylor Greene, giving the character a sense of realism.

While Firecracker is receiving mixed reactions, another addition to the series is adding a Supernatural connection to Eric Kripke himself.

Jared Padalecki to appear in The Boys season 5

After the abrupt cancellation of his CW-created show Walker in May, it seems like Jared Padalecki has a new page to turn over with The Boys. The satirical drama is all set to close its chapter with season 5 being its final season, and to the audience’s surprise, it’s going to be a Supernatural reunion between Eric Kripke and Jared Padalecki on board for the project.

This would complete the show’s father-sons trio appearing in The Boys, following Jensen Ackles in season 3 and Jeffrey Dean Morgan in season 4. Further, in an interview with TV Line, the actor spoke about how the director approached him and went on to say that Kripke had called him after hearing about the cancellation of his show and asked him if he wanted to come up to Toronto for a role. To which he had replied

Absolutely. Just let me know if I have to get naked or not because I gotta start working out now.

Despite his eagerness to join the gym and get his body in shape, the actor also mentioned that while the talks are still going on, the role is still miles away from production.

So, it appears that the viewers will have to wait for an official announcement about the type of role he is playing in the series.
