Whether it be anime, movies, or video games, it is a common sight to witness inspiration being taken across many forms of media in one way or the other. The same can be said about Remnant 2, a title that was released last year and seems to take inspiration from one of Guillermo del Toro’s movies which ended up winning 3 Oscars.

As it turns out, a designer for the game has revealed how one of the worlds put in place for the player to explore was inspired by a film that came out back in 2006, Pan’s Labyrinth. He further mentioned a few other movies that were taken as an inspiration to craft the game we know today.

Designer For Remnant 2 Reveals How Guillermo del Toro’s Movie Was Inspiration For A World In-Game

Remnant 2 is a vast game as stated by the game’s principal designer himself, and it allows players to explore areas that seem unreal. Talking about how many of the worlds in the game were inspired by movies, a designer for Gunfire Games, David Adams, revealed the following-

“Well, one of the cool things is the game structure. We can explore different worlds. One of the worlds is inspired by Pan’s Labyrinth. It was definitely an influence. There is another world inspired by Victorian England, and Fey mythology. One of the NPCs is Nimue, who is better known as the Lady of the Lake. In the first game we had a stage that was a mixture of Dune and Mad Max.”

The designer disclosed how out of the different worlds the player can explore, one of them was inspired by Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth. He further mentioned how there is another world that is supposedly a mixture of Dune and Mad Max, two very popular franchises that have managed to leave their mark in the industry.

Another strategy the studio has implemented in place to keep the fans engaged was by announcing early on how the game will be receiving 3 DLCs in the future for the players to enjoy. The first DLC of the game was released back in November last year, and a new expansion titled The Forgotten Kingdom was recently announced.

What Should The Player Know About The Upcoming DLC For Remnant 2

The Forgotten Kingdom DLC is scheduled to be released on April 23. The expansion will supposedly be continuing the storyline of the fight against the evil Root race, picking up where it was left off last time. The Forgotten Kingdom also brings along a new archetype to the game, called the Invoker, and someone who can derive power from nature.
