One Piece’s Mother Flame and the Ancient Weapons

It was previously theorized that Dr. Vegapunk might not be revealing information about the Ancient Weapons and their connection to the Mother Flame. As per the spoilers shared via X for chapter 1116, the information is no longer a mystery, but it certainly opens more doors. There had always been speculation about the Mother Flame holding some importance to the third and most mysterious Ancient Weapon, Uranus. Unlike the other weapons, Pluton and Poseidon, barely anything was known about Uranus.

With the spoilers for the chapter, it would seem that there is finally some information given out to the fans. Vegapunk’s creation of the Mother Flame led many to believe that he also had a hand in creating the third Ancient Weapon. However, that would now seem far from the truth. Revealed through Vegapunk, a part of the Mother Flame was stolen.

Not only that, but it is being used to fuel the Ancient Weapon Uranus. He also holds one crew responsible for uncovering the mysteries of the Void Century, The Pirate King and his crew. With the Mother Flame stolen, one thing becomes clear, Dr. Vegapunk had no intention of creating a weapon.

Vegapunk Did Not Create the Weapon but Its Source

According to a theory on Reddit, the Mother Flame being Uranus’s fuel opens up a lot of possibilities. The Ancient Weapons are divided into three different parts of the world. Poseidon of the sea, Pluton of the land, and Uranus of the skies. While the World Government found ways to control the first two weapons, the third became a difficult battle. Uranus would have needed the fuel of something mirroring the power of the sun.

Dr. Vegapunk creating the Mother Flame provided them with the fuel, one that could now be stolen and even recreated. Had the Mother Flame been the weapon itself, creating more of it would not have made much sense. However, seeing that it is used as a fuel, more of the Flame would give them more usage.

Vegapunk was never the creator of a weapon capable of mass destruction and neither did he intend to fuel it.
