Zoro is by far one of the strongest characters in Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece. He is a character full of potential and it only seems to grow the more the story progresses. As someone who has so much power within him, his goal is to become the greatest swordsman ever. To achieve that goal, Zoro is to defeat Dracule Mihawk once and for all.

He is a unique swordsman, using three swords against his opponent. This makes him a dangerous man, one whose bounty tells you all that you need to know. Although his goal may at one point become complete, the mystery remains of what after that. There is a possibility that Oda paves the way for Zoro’s legacy to go ahead even after his death.

Eiichiro Oda Gave Zoro’s Asura a Lot of Potential in One Piece

In a theory proposed by a Reddit user @Kaisona20, Zoro’s potential is only close to being fully unlocked. Iconic to his own self, the Three Sword Style grows exponentially in power with his Nine Sword Style. His illusionary state makes him resemble a Demon God Asura, allowing him to produce four more arms and two heads.

This gives him the ability to use nine swords all at the same time. It is one of the strongest abilities and gives him a boost that is by far one of the most impressive in the series. His determination as a swordsman allows him to evolve into a state that is humanly impossible. Yet he does not possess a Devil Fruit.

By far, it would seem that Eiichiro Oda has no intention of giving Zoro a Devil Fruit either. That would mean that his story and growth would be limited to his own potential as a human with access to limited power. With how little he uses it, there could be a strong possibility that Asura has more to it than meets the eye.

Asura is Ways Away from Becoming a Devil Fruit

Pointed out by Dr. Vegapunk, Devil Fruits are born out of determination and dreams that help the character keep on going. Zoro’s own Asura is a spiritual form, one that he cannot keep on going for the longest time. With practice, that could also be mastered.

There could be a strong possibility that as his story progresses, Zoro manages to unlock the potential of Asura more and more. It could even turn into something greater because of his determination and dream of becoming the strongest swordsman. To continue his legacy, Zoro’s dream could give birth to a Devil Fruit.

His spirit, after his death, could find itself in a Devil Fruit, giving rise to the power and transformation specific to Zoro alone. His Asura could then carry on his legacy and with it, his dream.
