One such character that fans are most excited about is Luffy’s brother and the son of former Pirate King Gol D. Roger, Portgas D. Ace. Ace was one of the strongest characters in One Piece, and his introduction in the series will need some extra flair and excitement to create the hype around the character, just like the anime series did.

And it looks like Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, has set up the perfect plotline for the introduction of Ace. It will revolve around his adventures as a rookie pirate when he was the captain of the Spade Pirates and defeated one of the former Warlords of the Sea, as this Warlord has been recently revealed by the manga creator.

Eiichiro Oda Introduces The Warlord Who Was Defeated By Ace

In the recent One Piece SBS Volume 109, Oda answered a bunch of questions about the One Piece storyline and the characters within it.

One of the questions was about the Warlord, who was beaten by Ace and was being discussed by Saturn and Kuma. The Warlord was first talked about when Saturn was telling Kuma to replace him.

Oda revealed that the name of the warlord who was beaten by Fire Fist Ace was Hanafuda, and his favorite hobby was collecting ancient Zoan Devil Fruits. Not only that, he was called the King of Lizards, which means that he most likely had the powers of a Zoan Devil Fruit that allowed him to change into a giant lizard.

Also, Oda revealed that his height is 514 cm and that his initial plans as the Warlord of the Sea are unknown to this day. Ace beating the Warlord was probably the first time that he earned recognition in the pirate world and was himself offered the position of the former Warlord. However, he rejected it.

Ace’s Introduction in One Piece Live-Action

According to a theory posted by u/leobat on Reddit, Eiichiro Oda’s timing for introducing Hanafuda is quite interesting. The theory further states that as One Piece live-action season 2 will introduce Ace, there is a high chance that the creators will use his battle against Hanafuda as an introduction for the character.

This battle will certainly create the hype among One Piece fans that is needed for a major character like Ace. The creators had previously done something similar in One Piece live-action season 1 when they introduced Zoro. They portrayed Zoro’s battle with Mr. 7 in Baroque works, which were not part of the anime or manga series.

While this theory seems intriguing and would certainly help in the introduction of Ace, there are certain plotholes that cannot be ignored. The biggest one being that when Ace is introduced in the original narrative, he was already the second division commander of the Whitebeard Pirates. Thus, introducing him with the help of his battle against Hanafuda will disrupt his character timeline.

You can watch One Piece live-action on Netflix.
