Netflix released a video featuring series creator Eiichiro Oda thanking fans, revealing the second season, and even entertainingly using Chopper. Luffy will now have to deal with considerably more deadly challenges than the antagonists of East Blue thanks to One Piece’s comeback for a new season.

The second season is expected to be entirely different from the first season as not only it will introduce new threats for the Straw Hat Pirates, but it will also become more serious and thrilling as the new villains that Iñaki Godoy’s Luffy will face will be much more dangerous and also he can expect his first defeat in the story.

1. One Piece Season 2 Will Have a Serious Storyline

Season 2 of Netflix’s One Piece will bring with it new adventures as according to the timeline from the source, the Straw Hat Pirates will venture into Alabasta, which will mark the beginning of the Alabasta Saga. With the introduction of new characters such as Tony Tony Chopper and Nico Robin, the story is most likely to get much more serious than the first season.

Alabasta is the first stop in the Grand Line for the Straw Hat Pirates, who will have to go through the reverse mountain to reach it. As the Grand Line is known as the Pirate’s graveyard, the storyline is bound to get much more serious and focused than the first season. The level of danger will be much higher than in the first season.

2. Season 2 Will Have Much More Dangerous Villains

Season 1 of One Piece live-action ended with a glimpse of Captain Smoker burning the Wanted poster of Luffy. This indicates that Smoker will be one of the antagonists of the second season. Also, as the series will feature the Alabasta saga, the crew is destined to fight Crocodile, one of the major characters and the biggest villains of One Piece.

Compared to Buggy, Arlong, and Captain Kuro, Smoker and Crocodile will be a much bigger challenge for Luffy, who will have to gather all his strength to beat them. It will be interesting to see how the creators of Live-Action will portray these battles in their own way and make it interesting for One Piece fans.

3. One Piece Season 2 Will Feature Luffy’s First Defeat

One of Luffy’s most astounding qualities is that even after facing defeat, he dusts off and gets back into the fight and does not give up until he has beaten the villain. However, this does not happen in the East Blue saga. In the original story, Luffy’s first defeat came when he faced Smoker in Loguetown.

Luffy was ultimately saved by his father, Monkey D. Dragon and Luffy had to flee from the place. Therefore, season 2 will probably show Luffy’s first defeat and how he will deal with it in the live-action version.
