Teach, and Imu are the reincarnations of the three separate Japanese Gods who are siblings.
Crazy Fan Theory Connects One Piece To Japanese Mythology
Naruto fans are familiar with the terms Izanagi, Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, and Susanoo. But these terms also have a specific connection with Japanese Mythology and have a connection with One Piece. In Japanese mythology, Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, and Susanoo are Izanagi’s children. When Izanagi washed his left eye, Amaterasu, the Sun Deity, was born; when he washed his right eye, Tsukuyomi, the Moon Deity, was born and finally, when he washed his nose, Susanoo, the Deity of the Storms and Sea, was born.
This is where the fan theory gets interesting. It connects Amaterasu with Monkey D. Luffy since he is referred to as Sun God ‘Nika.’ The Moon Deity, Tsukuyomi, has a connection to Marshall D. Teach since it was shown that in his younger days, he used to spend his time sitting under the moon, and the moon comes out at night or darkness, which also connects his Yami Yami no Mi. Lastly, Susanoo holds a connection with Imu-sama. Imu, when written backward, is spelled as ‘Umi,’ which means sea in Japanese.
In mythology, it was Susanoo who betrayed Amaterasu and was expelled from heaven. In One Piece, it was mentioned that the map of Jaya looked like a skull, but the left eye was missing. The fan theory claims that it might be Imu’s doing since Amaterasu was born from Izanagi’s left eye. Since the beginning, Imu held a grudge against Nika.

The One Piece theory also connected Jaya’s left eye to the Void Century. It said that the left eye of Jaya might have been an ancient kingdom. Since it was a sky island, it was directly powered by the Sun and used its energy for innovative technologies. Unfortunately, the World Government destroyed it and tried to erase all the signs of Nika. It was also seen that a big straw hat was kept frozen in Imu-sama’s chamber, and he took out his sword to pin it down on the left eye of Shirahoshi’s poster, who is also Luffy’s ally.
Nika and his straw hat are also a symbol of freedom, so there is more reason for Imu-sama to go after the ancient kingdom to maintain his domination. Another thing that was pointed out by the theory is that when Gol D. Roger first met Rayleigh, he said something about turning the world upside down.
