After a long battle in One Piece, the Straw Hat Pirates have finally managed to escape Egghead Island and save themselves from the clutches of the Gorosei. When Egghead started, no one expected the mysterious Gorosei to enter the center stage and showcase their real terrifying powers in front of the whole One Piece world.

While these powers certainly cast fear in the minds of One Piece fans and the Straw Hat crew, it also raised a lot of questions that Eiichiro Oda has yet to answer. Many believed that their power was just like any other Devil Fruit, but their Yokai forms and their different abilities have led to the assumption that the Gorosei are not Devil Fruit users at all.

In fact, there is a theory going around on the internet that claims that there is a specific reason why the Gorosei opted out of using the Devil Fruits. This reason is actually a major flaw in the concept of the Devil Fruits, and Oda has already hinted about it multiple times.

The Demonic Transformations of the Gorosei

The highest-ranking authorities of the World Government, the Gorosei, were considered to be the most powerful adversaries in the history of One Piece. However, no one knew what their powers were until Egghead Island, where they finally revealed it. And while they looked dangerous, no one knew what they exactly were.

The only known detail about them was that their powers allowed them to transform into terrifying Yokai forms that were never seen before in One Piece. Saturn can turn into a massive ox-spider, Mars can turn into a monstrous bird, Warcury can turn into a boar, Nusjuro can turn into a skeletal dead horse, and finally, Ju Peter can turn into a sandworm.

These forms resembled those of mythical zoan-type Devil Fruit users, but the abilities and the transformations were a lot different than the traditional zoan forms. In fact, they don’t even look similar to the awakened transformations, which is the final form for any Devil Fruit user.

One Piece Theory Talks About A Major Flaw in Devil Fruits

A theory posted by u/Excitium on Reddit states that the reason Gorosei do not have Devil Fruit powers is because they know about a major flaw within the One Piece power. The first and foremost proof of this is the fact that none of the Celestial Dragons have eaten a Devil Fruit and they forcefully feed it to their slaves to entertain themselves.

Secondly, the former Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, and his crew never possessed a Devil Fruit, and the only known user among them was Buggy. But he also fell ill during their journey and had to stay back. This indicated that whatever is on the final island might have some kind of issue with a Devil Fruit.

And finally, the antagonist of One Piece, Blackbeard, and his crew are big believers in the Devil Fruit power. Thus, as a form of irony, there is a big chance that Eiichiro Oda may make these Devil Fruit powers the reason for their defeat in the final war of One Piece. All these hints that there are a lot more flaws to the concept of the Devil Fruit, and Oda might reveal them soon.
