The idea of Red-Haired Shanks being evil has become a strong possibility ever since he announced that he is going to claim the One Piece for himself. Fans have become more certain that Shanks might be hiding a big secret, and his actions during the finale could have a big impact on the narrative as a whole.

However, there are still some Shanks’ stans who believe that Shanks is a morally wise character and the one who is doing all the evil deeds is actually his twin brother. While there was not much evidence supporting the twin Shanks theory, a recent discovery by a One Piece fan might just be the thing fans needed to support their theory.

According to the discovery, Eiichiro Oda has already dropped multiple hints about Shanks having an evil twin, and the most important one among them is Shanks’ meeting with Whitebeard in the past, where they discussed Ace’s mission to hunt down Blackbeard and take revenge for his actions as a member of the Whitebeard Pirates.

The Shanks Twin Theory Might Be Getting A Lot of Traction

One Piece fans started doubting Shanks’ intentions ever since he met the Gorosei in Mary Geoise to discuss a certain pirate. While the discussion was kept a secret, just meeting the Gorosei was enough for fans to cast doubt on his character. Later on, his connection with the Garling family and his actions during the Wano arc further strengthened the doubts.

While some fans were worrying about Shanks being evil, others formulated a theory about Shanks having an evil twin who not only worked in collaboration with the World Government but was also a member of the Holy Knights. One Piece fans even had explanations about Shanks meeting with the Gorosei, as his scar and the missing arm were hidden by Eiichiro Oda during the conversation.

Although sooner or later the mystery about Shanks’ character is soon going to come out in front of the fans, they just can’t fathom that Luffy’s first mentor who motivated him to be a pirate was just laying a web of his plans for his personal goals and motives.

While Shanks’ admirers have been hellbent on proving that the character’s image has been disrupted by his evil twin, they did not have much evidence to support their claims until now. According to a post by u/blueontheradio on Reddit, Whitebeard’s meeting with Shanks is the only confirmation fans needed to prove that the character has an evil twin.

The post states that when Whitebeard met Shanks to discuss about Ace, he talked about how one of the scars on his chest aches whenever he sees “his face.” Initially, fans believed that Whitebeard’s scar might have been given to him by either Roger or Figarland Garling during the God Valley incident. However, during Oden’s flashback of Wano, Whitebeard is seen fighting Roger without any scar on his chest.

As the God Valley incident took place before the events in the flashback in One Piece, there is no way Roger or Figarland could have attacked Whitebeard. Thus, the only possible explanation is that the evil Shanks twin might have indulged in a battle against Whitebeard at some point and given him the scar further supporting the twin theory.
