Matt Damon starred as Jason Bourne in Universal’s film series which started in 2002 with Bourne Identity. He has played the role four times, his most recent being 2016’s Jason Bourne. The actor has aged significantly over the years and is currently 53 years old. With the announcement of a new Bourne film and possible future films, Damon is most likely to pass on the baton to a younger actor.
As the debate of who the next Jason Bourne should be continues among fans, there is one suitable candidate that will bring a new audience and reinvigorate the franchise to new heights. Chris Hemsworth, who has been showing his incredible skills in the action genre with the two Extraction films will be perfect as the new Jason Bourne.

Matt Damon is Looking Forward to The New Jason Bourne Movie
It was announced last year that a new Jason Bourne film was in the works at Universal which will be directed by Edward Berger (who made All Quiet on the Western Front). In an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Matt Damon was asked whether he would reprise his role in the new film.
Damon revealed that he is aware of the new film that’s being developed and would be open to reprising the role if everything goes well. However, he also stated that he should pass on the baton soon as he is not getting any younger. He said,
“There is a great director named Edward Berger. All Quiet on the Western Front is a fantastic film, and he’s wonderful and he said he had an idea [for Bourne]. I would love to work with him, so he’s working on it. Look, I’m as anxious as you are to see if this thing [happens] — I hope it’s great and that we can do it. “At a certain point, somebody is going to need to take it over. I’m not getting any younger.”
Damon might star in this film but as he said, a younger actor has to replace him if more films are planned. The studio is sure to continue the franchise and thus, one must not be shocked when Universal announces a new actor as Bourne in the foreseeable future.
