When God of War Ragnarök was about to be released, there were several rumors floating around the community that stated that the Ghost of Sparta would meet his demise. However, with this entire franchise being so popular, the killing of the main character didn’t happen. God of War Ragnarök graced the gamers on 9th November 2022.
However, the fans were rather persistent as to how Kratos could die and probably reappear in future iterations of the game. Some gamers also speculated that Atreus would take over the protagonist role in the God of War franchise. With him being portrayed as 11 years old in God of War and estimated to be 14 years old in Ragnarök, the idea seemed relatively legible. What remained was how the Ghost of Sparta could be killed off in the series.

Is Kratos from God of War cursed with Immortality?
There has been a popular theory regarding why Kratos from the God of War can’t die. The theory talks about the immortality of the Spartan God. God of War fans must have wondered about how the immortality of Kratos functions or what loopholes it has. Albeit, being a god, players have seen him age throughout the series. He has also been sent to Hades on more than one instance. Kratos managed to return every time with the help of an external force like Gravedigger or Gaia. “Only a God can kill a God.” This became a running statement in the community. The theory also splits into another part, which describes that the Ghost of Sparta has been cursed with immortality. The cause of this curse might have been the fact that he murdered his family or maybe because of Persephone, Kratos can’t die by his own hands.

A very interesting theory was shared on the internet, which stated that Kratos would be sent to the Underworld after he died. This opened up an excellent opportunity for the upcoming game to feature him on a journey through Hell. Kratos was also misled into killing his wife Lysandra and daughter Calliope, which implied that he might have an opportunity to meet them in the afterlife. However, the entire theory that Kratos will die in any God of War title seemed a bit too far-fetched. Despite glimpses of hints toward the end of God of War (2018) depicting Kratos’s death, fans were uncertain because the Ghost of Sparta has cheated death in the past as well.
