Chan has made over 150 films in his career but there’s something much greater than his filmography – his charity work.  Growing up in a poor family, Chan dedicated his life to charity and social work. In 1988 he established the Jackie Chan Foundation which helped underprivileged children get access to sports. The foundation also supported many performing arts. The actor has also been a UNICEF Ambassador since 2004.

Chan also raised $5 million for Haiti Flood victims as well as $5.2 million in donations for Singapore Thong Chai Medical Institution. He also helped raise $29 million for drought relief in China. In 2002, Chan went on to establish the Dragon Heart Foundation intended to help the underprivileged populations of China.

If that’s not all, Chan once promised to give half of his wealth to charity, however, he later stated that he will be giving every last penny to charitable causes, instead of his family. About why he won’t spare even a dollar for his son, the actor stated, “If he is capable, he can make his own money. If he is not, then he will just be wasting my own money.”

All of this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Chan’s incredible work for the betterment of society. No wonder why he has fans who love him through thick and thin!
