Monkey D. Luffy is currently busy battling the Gorosei on the Egghead Island. Defeating them seems to be an impossible task, but Sun God Nika coming out victorious could help the Straw Hats get one step closer to the One Piece. On the other hand, another Yonko, Blackbeard, is taking the easy way with ambushing Pirates to steal Road Poneglyps and Devil Fruit abilities.
Both of them are the closest to the One Piece. Shanks was a member of the Roger Pirates. So, the Red-Haired Pirates also have a chance to steal the title of the Pirate King. But, there is a particular pirate who fulfills every requirement to be a Pirate King. If he only had a proper crew to back him up, he could have easily conquered the Grand Line.
Dracule Mihawk Could Become The Pirate King Before Monkey D. Luffy
One Piece showcases Monkey D. Luffy’s journey to become the Pirate King. But throughout his journey, he had to face several adversaries. Being a teenager, he had to go through near-death situations due to lack of experience. The top three things to become the King of the Pirates are ‘Fame, Wealth, and Power,’ and Dracule Mihawk is the only one who fulfills every requirement. He is the strongest swordsman in the world and defeats Roronoa Zoro with a pocket knife.
A fan theory states that Dracule Mihawk could be the next Pirate King if he had a proper crew. He is the only pirate to go head-to-head with Shanks on several occasions. It shows that he is on par with him. During the Paramount War, his unnamed single-hand slashes were powerful enough to slice mountains the icebergs. On top of that, he has a bounty of 3.59 Billion Berries. But he likes to travel solo and only recently joined the Cross Guild.
He could take on Monkey D. Luffy, Buggy, Blackbeard, and Shanks, and defeat the first three of them. But it is still unknown whether he can use Conqueror’s Haki or not since Luffy and Shanks using it against him could turn the odds in their favor. Other than that, he can steal copies of the Road Poneglyphs and take the easy way out to reach Laughtale.
There is More Than One Way To Become the Pirate King
Finding the One Piece is not the only way to become the Pirate King. One who defeats all the Yonko could become the Pirate King since they are the strongest pirates on the sea. With Mihawk’s capabilities, it is pretty doable. After Kaido and Big Mom’s defeat, the only one who poses a threat to him is Shanks.
But if he wants to take the right way, he will have to form a crew. With Whitebeard dead, Mihawk could recruit his remaining crew members and find the One Piece. He needs Nico Robin or someone from Zou Island to board his ship to read the Poneglyph. Currently, Mihawk is a part of the Cross Guild, along with Sir Crocodile and Buggy as the captain.
He could use them as a stepping stone towards his goal. Facing the Yonko captains seems achievable, but taking the entire crew singlehandedly seems foolish, even by Mihawk’s standards. Dracule Mihawk has always been ready to be the Pirate King with the Black Blade, Yoru. The only thing he lacks is a crew to take on the likes of Monkey D. Luffy and Blackbeard.
