And it seems ever since he was a teen, the actor was adamant about being the perfect version of himself after he experienced his first heartbreak.
According to the Men in Black star, the first heartbreak that he experienced made him feel he wasn’t good enough, which motivated him to keep moving forward and always be the best version of himself. And it appears even after decades, the actor still strives for perfection in order to make sure that his loved ones don’t leave him.

The marriage between Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith has been a lightning rod for controversies over the years, but despite all of that, the two don’t seem to part ways anytime soon. And to keep it that way, Will Smith explained he keeps working on becoming the best in his field as an actor and the best father and husband, as he claimed it’s the only way to keep Pinkett from leaving him. Smith explained,
“Jada has to have that look. I can’t function if she doesn’t have that look in her eyes. So that means with my movies, that means as a father, that means as a husband and everything that I do in my life, I have to educate myself to the place that I can contend as the best on Earth. And that’s the only way to keep my woman from leaving me.”
However, the actor hasn’t always succeeded in his process of striving for perfection, as the slap-gate incident did take a toll on his career. This resulted in the actor coming forward to make amends with fans and apologize to Chris Rock.
Jada Pinkett-Smith doesn’t see herself leaving Will Smith for another woman
Although it doesn’t seem the two would end their bond anytime soon, their daughter did claim that she could see her mother pursuing a romantic bond with another woman if her marriage with Smith ends. After being flabbergasted by Willow Smith’s answer, Jada Pinkett-Smith responded by stating she couldn’t see herself being romantically inclined to other women but didn’t brush off the possibility. She said,
“It wasn’t for me either, I love being amongst women, but I never could connect to women romantically. But it’s not to say that it couldn’t be. You just never know.”

Although it can’t be said what the future holds for the couple, for now, despite going through some tumultuous recent years, their decades-long marriage keeps moving forward.
