In 2011, the American filmmaker, Sofia Coppola, decided to make a film following the group of teenagers who committed these burglaries and also wanted to make the victims of these burglaries feature in her film. While she did manage to convince some of them, not all of them were on the same page as Coppola.

When Sophia Coppola asked Orlando Bloom for a cameo in the film, he rejected the offer, as it felt too personal to him. He shared that Sofia Coppola is “wonderful,” and he would love to work with her, but this is not the project he would like to be involved with as it was “too close to home” for him.

Upon finding out that the person selling his watches is a pawn shop owner, he went to meet him to get them back. However, he had to return empty-handed on the first day. But he eventually got a call from that person and got five of the ten watches that he lost in the robbery.

Bloom shared that as he saw those watches he was on the verge of tears and was happy that he was able to track them down. He also joked that a film of him tracking down his lost watches would have been more interesting than Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring.
