Oscar Isaac: Why He Joined Moon Knight After Disappointing X-Men Experience

Oscar Isaac starred in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men: Apocalypse (2016). But the overall experience of the actor while filming the movie was not so great. However, it is confirmed that the actor is returning to MCU and has signed ‘Moon Knight’.

When Oscar Isaac was asked about his previous experience working on X-Men: Apocalypse, the actor addressed different filming issues. He said that wearing the titular villain’s heavy latex costume was one of the biggest issues during filming the movie. This also inhibited interacting with other A-list actors on the set. Also, the overall portrayal of the character by Oscar Isaac was not received positively by the audience.

All of this made it seem that the actor might not return to filming any other MCU project. Also, it was thought that the actor might not want to do more such genre after doing Star Wars Trilogy.  But the news of him joining Marvel’s next ‘Moon Knight’ has certainly broken all these misconceptions.

Total Film interviewed the actor and asked him about his interest in joining Marvel’s new series. Oscar Isaac had a lot to say about his decision. The actor said that the unusual story of the series attracted his attention and interest in joining the series. He said that the character has never been done before and there are no restrictions at experimenting with the character.

Isaac explained that for him it’s not so much about the genre of things. It is more about whether there is any scope of doing something new and whether he will love to work with the people involved. Sometimes there is and sometimes there isn’t. With Moon Knight, Oscar Isaac found that he certainly would love to work with the creative team of the series. He also realized that there is something very new to be done with the character and story. Isaac said that this series and storyline aim to tell something interesting with a perspective of the superhero narrative. He is also excited to collaborate with the team and all the other people involved in the series.

Disney+ series Moon Knight is Marvel’s new venture that will introduce Golden Globe winner Oscar Isaac in the titular role of Marc Spector. This will mark the first appearance of the character in live-action movies. The character will be seen in future MCU films.

Jeremy Slater of The Umbrella Academy will write and develop the series. The series will be directed by Synchronic duo Aaron Moorhead, Justin Benson, and Egyptian filmmaker Mohamed Diab.
