Hollywood star Jennifer Lopez has been a part of the entertainment industry for over three decades now. She has established herself as a successful singer, actor, and dancer, however, the journey was not easy for her. The actress once revealed that she got into an argument with director Oliver Stone as she was asked to appear topless in his 1997 movie U Turn.
Since the actress was a budding star at the time, she was under pressure and eventually agreed to do it. The film, which was based on the book Stray Dogs by John Ridley, wasn’t a huge success but it certainly played a key role in making Lopez popular and created more opportunities for her.

Actress Jennifer Lopez appeared in an episode of Inside The Actor’s Studio in 2004 and recalled the time she was forced to appear topless in a scene in 1997’s U Turn. The actress revealed that the scene was added during filming and it was something she didn’t wish to do but after a long argument with the film’s director, Oliver Stone, she agreed,
“It’s hard being the only woman on a set … But it actually worked in the movie.”
Jennifer Lopez played the role of Grace McKenna in the movie alongside some well-known Hollywood stars like Sean Penn, Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Voight, Powers Boothe, Joaquin Phoenix, Claire Danes, and Nick Nolte.

A director asked Jennifer Lopez to remove her top before filming a scene
In 2020, Jennifer Lopez appeared in a round table interview with fellow stars Scarlett Johansson, Renée Zellweger, and Lupita Nyong’o for The Hollywood Reporter. During the interview, the actress recalled the time, a director asked her to remove her top while she was being fitted for a costume. The actress said,
“And I said no, I stood up for myself. But it was so funny because I remember being so panicked in the moment. And by the way, there was a costume designer in the room with me. So there was another woman in the room and he says this and I said no. Luckily a little bit of the Bronx came out, and I was like, ‘I don’t have to show you my – No. On the set, you see them.'”
It is certainly not easy being a female superstar but Lopez was able to overcome all these challenges and established herself as one of the biggest stars in the entertainment industry.
