“Our crew is still on the thread”: Saving Hollywood from Extinction is Still Not Enough for Tom Cruise as Top Gun 2 Cast Leave Out $600M Star Out of Group Chat

Saving Hollywood for Extinction is Still Not Enough for Tom Cruise as Top Gun 2 Cast Leave Out $600M Star Out of Group Chat

Tom Cruise has been the leading man of the action genre with his blockbuster hits that have only skyrocketed his fame and success. He has tried his luck on different genres before eventually setting his eyes on action flicks and we know all too well how things turned out for him. From rising to prominence with 1986’s Top Gun to bringing it back last year with a sequel, Top Gun: Maverick, he has proven his potential.

While the film turned out to be a massive success, it also helped in saving Hollywood since he revived the enthusiasm for theatres among fans. Despite the great results, he was left out of the group chat which the film cast made to keep in touch with everyone.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Lewis Pullman who played the role of Weapons Systems Operator, Bob in Top Gun: Maverick shared his experience of the film. During a segment, he opened up about the group chat that the film cast is quite famous for, revealing that the leading star, Tom Cruise is not a part of it.

It is quite a weird thing since he is quite a crucial part of the movie and the group’s major purpose was to keep in touch with everyone. He revealed that the actor’s jam-packed schedule and other prior engagements were kept in mind before leaving him out of the group.

Pullman shared,

“Our crew is still on a thread. Not Tom; we don’t need to bother him with all of our memes. He’s got more important stuff to do. But he’ll take a call at any point if we ever need help.”

The cast was quite thoughtful as they would not want to disturb the Mission: Impossible actor with their memes as his hands are full of other important matters. However, he did assure that Cruise would be available for them in case of any assistance.

Pullman understands the responsibility Cruise carries on his shoulders on his own. While he is unable to keep up with the gifs and memes, he has shocked the fans with his impeccable action sequences every time he returns to the big screen.

The 61-year-old actor has recently returned with his Ethan Hunt role through Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, which was released this July. The film grossed $541 million worldwide which is still inferior to Top Gun 2‘s box-office earnings as it earned $1.496 billion globally.

Meanwhile, the sequel to Mission: Impossible 7 is set to release on June 28, 2024.
