Over the last few months, we’ve seen Activision Blizzard committed to bringing some of its most legendary titles to Xbox Game Pass with mixed results. Diablo 4′s addition proved to be a huge success, sparking a massive surge in Game Pass subscribers, but the Black Ops 6 reveal wasn’t received that well.
However, that’s not stopping Blizzard as the company has finally announced that its popular hero shooter, Overwatch 2, is coming to Game Pass on September 17th, 2024. This highly anticipated addition comes with some extra goodies that will definitely get all PlayStation fans jealous!
Overwatch 2 is Finally Coming to Xbox Game Pass
Overwatch 2‘s debut on Xbox Game Pass will come just a few weeks after the release of Season 12, which is all set to begin on August 20th. The next chapter in the controversial hero shooter will bring a brand-new hero in the form of Juno, a Martian who’s able to completely heal her teammates while outputting damage to enemies.
While the game’s launch on Game Pass seems like a minor deal given that it’s already a free-to-play game, there are some incredible bonus rewards with this release that gamers certainly don’t want to miss out on!

Blizzard Still Needs to Fix its Messy Hero-Shooter Sequel
While it’s great to see Game Pass subscribers now have the chance to jump into the hero-shooter experience, there’s no denying that Overwatch 2 just doesn’t hit the same level as the original game.
The hero shooter can still be a fun experience, giving a unique mix of shooting and strategy that can’t be seen in any other FPS on the market. However, at this point, too many decisions made within the title seem to benefit its financial profits more than the player base.
As a follow-up to the legendary FPS game, Overwatch 2 could’ve been a generational game. The original plans made everyone believe that it would expand gamers’ experience with the world of Overwatch, with players interested in PvE and PvP finding something to enjoy in the progression of the game.
In the end, the sequel feels more like a glorified update than a true sequel. If Blizzard truly wants to capture the lost player count and make the game successful, the company needs to deliver with the upcoming season; otherwise, the future isn’t looking bright.
