New Reinhardt Mythic Skin in Overwatch 2 Irks Player Sentiments
Gamers are not averse to paying a little extra to acquire some cool cosmetics. This is especially true for online titles. However, when you can buy an entire game for the amount it would take to purchase a cosmetic item, things start to look a bit off. That’s the case with the new Reinhardt Bound Demon skin for Overwatch 2, and it’s getting a decent amount of backlash.
Overwatch 2 is no stranger to criticism, as many have expressed their disappointment in the sequel’s decision to go from a 6v6 match to a 5v5. However, the latest Overwatch Mythic skin is something they can easily fix if they just listen to fans. It features Reinhardt clad in Doom Slayer-esque armor, and his ax boasts a flaming demon’s face. The attacks and charge-up animations also show some cosmetic changes to match the new appearance.

Unfortunately, fans who wish to use this skin are going to have to part with 80 Prisms! With $10 getting you 10 Prisms, gamers are up in arms for what they call a “ridiculous” price.

The skin is cool and honestly one of the best weapons in the game but I am sorry, I cannot in good conscious spend $80 on this. In a game where you may have to swap out of rein because of counters, this makes this a big no for me.

Blizzard needs to course correct the decision, as it was previously thought the mythic skin would be around 50 prisms. That’s still a lot, but people seemed more receptive to that price tag than the current $80.
Overwatch 2 Fans Reminisce About the Good Times in The First Game
Blizzard’s changes to the game have not been appreciated by the community, and fans are now thinking of all the fun times they had in the first game. Aside from changing the match configuration, the developer also removed the controversial but unique Assault game mode, also known as 2CP.
Functioning similar to Call of Duty’s King of the Hill, it required the teams to take control of certain points on the map. Some in the community felt the game mode was too one-sided, while others enjoyed the experience.
Blizzard has a lot of work remaining to make sure Overwatch 2 can be as successful as the first game. Listening to the community’s feedback is a good place to start, as they are the ones who will determine the longevity of the title.
