As Overwatch 2 Season 9 is fast approaching, it is speculated that the game will get some major new features and improvements including a hero roster. However, there are some things that the new season of the game needs to bring back from Season 6 that could contribute to the upcoming season’s success.

PvE missions in Overwatch 2 were added in Season 6: Invasion with three-story missions that took players to new locations. This was after the large-scale PvE campaign with several missions and skill trees for heroes but it was cancelled for the PvE missions. The story missions were called Resistance, Liberation, and Ironclad. Resistance was set in Rio de Janeiro, Liberation was set in Toronto, and Ironclad was set in Gothenburg.

The PvE missions were a massive success and were very well received by players. Overwatch 2 players were able to see how it would take things further in the game and believed that the game could finally live up to its potential. The missions were set shortly after Winston’s Recall when he attempted to get Overwatch heroes back together and players who were interested in the lore were heavily impressed by the missions as they focused on lore and character development.

The missions were available to play in four different difficulties from Normal to Legendary, catering to all players. However, the developer revealed that it would not be bringing any more PvE content in Season 7 and Season 8, adding that it wants to improve on the feedback received in Season 6. With the imminent Overwatch 2 Season 9, it would be perfect for Blizzard to bring the next batch of PvE content and bring back the players who it drove away with the controversy around PvE.

While players accepted the lack of PvE missions in Season 7 and 8 as the developer had already announced that there won’t be any and with its events and themed updates, Season 9 is the perfect release window for the missions to make a comeback. Moreover, it could also define how the game would go about its business in the coming times.

The leaked patch notes for the Overwatch 2 Season 9 update have revealed some major changes coming to the game and it could be a new start for the game. As per the leak, the global Hero health pool that includes health, armor, and shields will be seeing an increase of around 15-20% with the DPS hero Mauga receiving a health buff as well.

The global projectile size is also reportedly getting an increase and will allow heroes to hit targets easily. The abilities are also set to receive changes that will see an increase in damage. Moreover, Pharah is also said to get a rework with a new ability.

While all these changes are surely impressive, there is also mention of PvE content which players have been speculating about seeing in the new season. However, this might change when developers reveal the release date of season 9 and what it would bring for the players.
