Palworld has been facing accusations about copying for a while now, but the vitriol had peaked around its release time. It’s been half a year since release, and the accusations have died down significantly. Not completely, though.

The game’s community manager, Bucky, recently shared an interesting story about being confronted by someone who made some fierce accusations. He humorously recalls the story, but you wouldn’t want to be in that situation yourself.

In a recent X/Twitter post, the manager details a bizarre encounter he recently faced at the BitSummit convention in Japan. On the second day of the event, when he was hanging around the company’s booth, a “foreign gentleman” and his partner noticed the game’s name and stopped to talk about it for a second.

He supposedly talked about how the game uses AI-generated assets for its Pals and that a Palworld lawsuit was in the process. The gentleman also pointed at some designs displayed on the booth as proof of this.

The manager, overhearing the conversation, deliberated whether to confront the pair or not. But ultimately decided against it, laughing about it with his nearby colleague.

He then makes a few statements to clear out any misconceptions that people might still have about the game:

We didn’t AI generate any Pals. Our artists are fantastic and we’re so lucky to have them. No lawsuit ever existed. Sorry. Real life isn’t Twitter.

The staff member doesn’t blame the gentleman for thinking the way he does, saying that many people get their news from viral Twitter posts and headlines, which can be very misleading.

Did the Game Really Copy Assets From Pokemon?

As many know by now, Nintendo isn’t hesitant to strike down any mentions of Pokemon in other people’s creations. If Palworld truly had given the company any reason to Thanos-snap it out of existence, rest assured, it would’ve done so by now.

People in the comments unanimously sided with the manager, making fun of the fact that some people take news from X/Twitter as absolute fact, when it’s not necessarily the case.

The manager was commended for the sheer amount of self-restraint he displayed.

It would’ve been too easy to confront the individual and tell them off for all the misinformation they were spouting.

The game has been doing incredibly well since launch, despite all the criticism. It recently launched a huge expansion that includes some new Pals, a new region to explore, and more.

At this point, it’s safe to say that Pocketpair is not bothered by the accusations floating around the internet anymore.

What do you think bout this whole issue? Are people jumping the gun, or is there truly something insidious going on with Pocketpair? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
