Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake 2 has been a tremendous success and has received mostly positive reviews from fans and critics alike. The game also received three awards for its narrative, art direction, and game direction at the coveted The Game Awards 2023.
Sam Lake, the creative director of Remedy, has also been widely appreciated for the game. It seems like the developers of the recent Pokemon-like sensation Palworld are also his fans, as they have expressed their desire to meet the brains behind the popular horror game.
Palworld Devs Express the Desire to Meet Alan Wake 2’s Sam Lake
Sam Lake posted a short video of him on his official X handle with the caption “Having a can of cold coffee in Tokyo,” where he is seen standing in front of a vending machine and sipping coffee while Big in Japan by Tom Waits plays in the background.
The post saw several replies from his fans, with many welcoming him to Japan and others appreciating him for his work. One of these fans was Palworld developer Pocketpair’s community manager, Bucky, who expressed the desire of the development team to meet the genius.
Oh, you are in Tokyo, Sam? ? ?
The Palworld team would love to meet you if possible!— Bucky | Palworld & Craftopia (@Bucky_cm) March 27, 2024
Bucky replied to Sam, asking him if he was in Tokyo. He further said, “Palworld team would love to meet you if possible!” There has been no response from Sam Lake yet, but fans are excited about this potential crossover. A fan said that if Sam Lake and Pocketpair were to meet, it would be “awesome,” and another just exclaimed, “DO IT.”

It remains to be seen if the meetup happens or not, but if it does, it would be a unique collaboration. The players may possibly see Alan Wake 2 enter the world of Pokemon with guns sometime in the future, but that’s a long shot.
The Pokemon With Guns Game Has Been a Huge Success
Palworld was released in January 2024 via Steam and also landed on Xbox via Game Pass Day 1 and recorded a massive number of players. The game recorded 2,101,867 concurrent players, which is its all-time peak and is still going strong as the 24-hour peak at the time of writing is above 74k with more than 37k players currently in the game.
The game sold more than 8 million copies in under a week of its release and had sold a combined 25 million copies on PC and Xbox as of February 22, 2024. Xbox also revealed that it recorded its “biggest month ever on console” in terms of playtime in January, the same month as the game’s release, with more than 10 million players.
The rest of the 15 million copies were sold via Steam, where the game also left several popular titles behind in terms of player numbers, including games like Destiny, Starfield, and several others. The game has impressed many, and developers have revealed that more amazing things will be coming soon to the game, so an Alan Wake x Palworld collab won’t hurt.
