Who would have thought that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will become one of the biggest and most influential phenomena of this generation? It’s so fascinating to know how far it has gone, with the fans, even the cast, and crew, still recuperating from the events of Avengers: Endgame. It is truly one of the most ambitious crossovers in the history of comic book movies.
Most of the characters we grew up with, from 11 years ago since Iron Man debuted, are present in the final act of Avengers: Endgame. One character that was resurrected even before the rest did was Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man AKA Scott Lang. Although he was missing in action in Infinity War, he had a major role in Avengers: Endgame.
Scott Lang was trapped in the Quantum Realm for five years, only to be set free by a rat. When he discovered that half of the population dispersed, including Hope Van Dyke AKA The Wasp (portrayed by Evangeline Lily), he thought of using the Pym Particle to manipulate the time and travel back to reverse the impact of Thanos’ snap.
The future of Ant-Man
Due to Scott Lang’s major involvement in the Avengers: Endgame, a part three movie is expected to happen. However, in an interview with Rudd, he said:
“I don’t know. You need to make a call to the top brass and start a campaign to make it happen.”Paul Rudd
Some narratives say the sequel movie Ant-Man and The Wasp did not wrap things up, leaving an open-ended finish. Scott’s five-year absence may have an impact on his family and friends, especially Michael Peña’s iconic character, Luis. Other speculations include Scott getting a happy ending, reuniting with Hope and seeing his daughter Cassie again. He was seen watching fireworks, an element of film that depicts victory.
Can this simply mean that Ant-Man 3 might not be coming back? MCU’s Phase 4 is still a complete mystery, even the cast are clueless of what’s in it for the future. Rudd has not yet signed any contract reprising his role as Ant-Man.
