Marvel is making a field day out of bringing back their veteran actors through the new movies. And while there have been rumors and visible excitement in the fandom for the ones they got to know are returning, for example, Tim Blake Nelson as Leader and Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, there seems to be even more that fans are yet unaware of.
Although more details would be revealed slowly as Marvel fully steps into Phase 5, with The Marvels later this year, for now, there is another small yet significant cameo of an actor in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, that had taken the Marvel fandom through a storm and left them wondering if there might be more easter eggs waiting for them at theaters this month.
Judy Greer returns in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
Judy Greer made her first MCU debut in 2015’s Ant-Man as Paul Rudd‘s Scott’s ex-wife Maggie Lang. However, after the 2018 sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp Greer has been completely missing from the ensuing movies in the MCU. Her absence was startling, especially in this year’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, where fans expected to learn a few answers about her character but were left wanting.
As a result, her status in the Marvel universe remains yet undecided, and fans were wondering if they will indeed ever see her again. In a pleasant turn of events, though, it was recently confirmed that Judy Greer‘s reappearance in MCU will actually be sooner than people might have expected. However, in a way, that fans definitely did not see coming.
According to the official press release, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 introduces Judy Greer in a new avatar. That is as War Pig’s voice actor, who is one of the High Evolutionary’s henchmen. It should be mentioned here that the High Evolutionary is the geneticist who acted as a catalyst for Adam Warlock’s rebirth or reemergence from the cocoon, who is also set to make his debut with this movie through Will Poulter.
As a result, Judy Greer’s reappearance, although surprising, is not exactly out of left field as a lot of other artists are expected to return for cameos through that.
James Gunn to do a free run of cameos in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 finally introduces the High Evolutionary into the movies through Chukwudi Iwuji. As his entire gig is about genetic experiments to create evolved humans, it is expected that there are going to be a lot of new characters introduced even if for a short while for the storyline.
As a result, fans are expecting James Gunn to snowball however many cameos he wants to include in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Ironically, Nathan Fillion obviously has already secured a place in the movie alongside Jennifer Holland. However, who else there might be is a question that will only be answered after the movie’s release in a couple of days.
Fans are excited to see Judy Greer in a new avatar in the MCU nonetheless after so many years. Thankfully, it can be assumed that she will eventually reprise her role as Maggie Lang in the Ant-Man franchise soon, as she and Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang is expected to become a part of the superhero gang in the near future.
Although details of any more voice acting projects of Greer might get revealed later when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits the theatres, something fans are looking forward to.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be available in the theaters on May 5th, 2023.
