Sometimes celebrities find themself confronting weird situations and when it involves fans, it becomes rather sensitive. Obviously, pleasing fans is considered the first rule of such grandeur fame and Reese Witherspoon once had to do the same.
Actor and producer Witherspoon has some wonderful movies and television credits to her name. Also, the actor has several accolades to celebrate her wonderful career including her Oscar win for her portrayal of June Carter in James Mangold’s 2005 musical drama Walk the Line.
Reese Witherspoon’s Embarrassing Dilemma in a Flight
Back in the day, in-flight entertainment packages were quite limited as there were no screens attached backside of the passengers’ headrests and everyone had to resort to just one screen unlike today’s variation and choice of selection. But fans were saved when Reese Witherspoon was aboard a flight when her 2010 rom-com was being played on screen and some error occurred. “Back when they used to have one movie that played on an airplane –this is actually a funny story,” Witherspoon said appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
“I was traveling — And it was a long flight. It was like a five-hour flight, and I walk in, and they’re like, ‘And the movie today is gonna be ‘How Do You Know,’ starring Reese Witherspoon,’ and I was like, ‘Oh, my God. I have nowhere to hide. Oh, my God. I have nowhere to hide. Oh, my God. I have nowhere to hide. This is so embarrassing.’ And my kids are there too, and they’re also like, ‘Oh, my God. Our mom is so embarrassing.’ And then, probably maybe 10 minutes into the in-flight movie, it cut out, and the clip broke. The tape broke or something. And I was like– ‘Oh, my God. Oh, my God.’”
The passengers identified Witherspoon and “everybody started looking at me like, ‘Oh, my God. Reese Witherspoon…’” the Wild actor added. But now she had a big task at hand and was to fill in for the shake of the film.
Reese Witherspoon Narrated Entire Plot of a Movie For Fans in 3 Minutes
James L. Brooks-directed How Do You Know also stars several big names in Hollywood including MCU stars Paul Rudd and Owen Wilson, and legendary actor Jack Nicholson. Rudd’s co-star later went on to narrate the plot of the film for the convenience of the fans. “And so I went to the front of the plane, and I got on the microphone. I said to the flight attendant, ‘Can I talk in the microphone?’” Witherspoon told Seth Meyers.
“I was like, ‘Hi, guys. I don’t think the movie’s coming back, so I’m just gonna walk you, beat by beat…what happened. So first of all, I’m going out with Owen Wilson. It’s not going well. And he’s a professional baseball player, and you know that’s gonna go south. So I have this crazy great date with Paul Rudd, but — but — his dad is asking him to go to jail for him because he’s committed a crime. Guys, I don’t know what’s gonna happen. Am I gonna go with Owen Wilson? Am I gonna go with Paul Rudd? What’s gonna happen?’ And they were like, ‘Yes!’”
Certainly, the response from the fans pleased the Legally Blonde star. “It was actually so fun and funny to, like, get to tell people the entire plot of my movie in like three minutes,” she added. And for the fans, it was a great treat to have the star of the movie narrating the story.
