Apart from the actor’s allure to fans, Pedro Pascal’s ‘father figure’ status is a result of the roles the Chilean-American star has taken on in the last few years. For example, he portrayed a father or father figure in The Mandalorian and The Last of Us. In the former, the actor took on the title role of Mandalorian, taking on the role of protector and caregiver for young Grogu.
However, in the latter, he (Joel) was assigned the mission of smuggling Ellie, a young child, across the United States and out of a quarantine zone. There is no denying that Pascal has now developed into this fatherly figure archetype. So where did this trend begin, and when did it begin? His portrayal of Daddy’s figure in another science fiction epic, Prospect, is the first known example.
This film was released in 2018, giving the actor’s portrayal of a reluctant father figure in a thrilling and dangerous setting a taste of what to expect from his later projects.
Pedro Pascal was a Reluctant Daddy Before The Last of Us
If you are a fan of Pedro Pascal and his unique ability to play endearing characters in roles of parental responsibility, seek out his lesser-known gem, Prospect. Yes, he played a role akin to that of a reluctant father in Zeek Earl and Chris Caldwell’s film before taking on such a fatherly role in The Last of Us.
As this character travels across a vast and uncharted wasteland, Pascal demonstrates his mastery of the reluctant father figure role and gives viewers a preview of what to expect from The Last of Us and possibly The Mandalorian‘s upcoming fourth season. In an interview with Vanity Fair, the actor stated:
“Daddy is a state of mind, you know what I’m saying?… I’m your Daddy.”
Earl and Caldwell wrote and directed the movie, which centers on a teenage girl named Cee (Sophie Thatcher) and her father Damon (Jay Duplass), who come to a deadly forest to search for precious stones. Their journey becomes more dangerous due to a string of betrayals, alliances, and confrontations with rival prospectors and mercenaries.
Pascal’s special abilities in the role are arguably used for the first time in Prospect.

The Last of Us Star Called Himself Our ‘Cool, Slutty Daddy’
Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) is aware of our collective perception of him. He is currently one of the biggest TV stars, having fans all over the world. It is good to know that the actor now knows how those fans see him, thanks to an ET interview. When the reporter asked him if he knew he was “the daddy of the internet, the actor grinned, making a million people swoon, and shared:
“I call Pedro Pascal a DILF and think he’s my cool, slutty father. Yup, I’m your cool, slutty Daddy.”
Pascal is currently portraying Joel in The Last of Us, as millions of people are aware. He adopts the role of a father figure for Ellie, a teenage girl, in the series, leading her on a journey through post-apocalyptic America.
Additionally, he portrays a father figure in the title role of Disney+’s The Mandalorian. It looks like being an extremely attractive father is Pascal’s niche. We also have no complaints at all!
Stream The Last of Us on HBO Max, while Prospect is available on Peacock. The Mandalorian can be seen on Disney Plus.
