Chilean-American actor Pedro Pascal rose to prominence by portraying the character of Oberyn Martell in HBO’s Game of Thrones in 2014 and Javier Peña in Netflix’s successful and popular show Narcos from 2015 to 2017. The actor went on to star in movies such as The Great Wall, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Triple Frontier, and more.
Pedro Pascal has always received a positive response from the critics and the audience for his performances. In 2019, the actor starred in the Disney+ Star Wars series The Mandalorian in which he played the titular character.
Pascal’s portrayal of Joel Miller in HBO’s The Last of Us has earned him not only critical appreciation but a spot on Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World 2023. A recent update confirms the actor’s involvement in Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four 2025 reboot.
Pedro Pascal to start filming for Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four
Over the last year, Pedro Pascal who starred as Joel Miller in the live-action adaptation of The Last of Us garnered attention. His spectacular performance on the show earned him nominations at Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe Awards. Pascal’s performance made him one of the most talked about actors in 2023 which led to a lot of projects coming his way.
One of the significant news that was reported was his being a part of Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four reboot. However, there was no confirmation at the time. But now, according to the SAG Foundation profile of Pascal, it has been confirmed that the actor is going to star in the reboot movie and finally enter the MCU.
CBR reports that SAG-AFTRA recently hosted a career retrospective for the actor, which Pedro Pascal attended. His even description bio noted that
“Pedro Pascal has recently wrapped the production on Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated Gladiator 2 and will soon begin production on Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four.”
However, there has been no information on what character the actor would play in the reboot. But Deadline reported in November 2023 that Pascal will be portraying the character of Reed Richards a.k.a. Mister Fantastic but there has been no update on his character as of now. Disney+ and Marvel Studios are yet to announce Pascal’s involvement in the movie but SAG-AFTRA likely confirms his part.
Matt Shakman teased Pedro Pascal starrer Fantastic Four’s production for Spring 2024
Director Matt Shakman had teased the start of production of the Fantastic Four reboot for Spring 2024 but later it was reported that the production will most probably be delayed to Q3 of 2024. The exact time is hard to know as of now. Matt Shakman in a conversation with Collider in 2023 shared,
“It’s such an awesome world to be in. The script is awesome, the characters are brilliant. I’m super excited. I’m very happy now that the writer’s strike has resolved in such a good way, and we’re able to reunite with Josh Friedman, our amazing screenwriter.”
Fans are excited to see Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards but it should be known that the actor is going to have a very busy year with Fantastic Four starting, second season of The Last of Us is also scheduled to start filming this month. The actor will also start filming for The Mandalorian & Gogu which will follow Din Djarin. Shakman had shared that their take of Fantastic Four is going to be very different but it fits the material.
Joseph Quinn has been rumored to play Johnny Storm a.k.a., The Human Torch in the reboot with Vanessa Kirby rumored to portraying Susan a.k.a., The Invisible Woman. Cillian Murphy and Mads Mikkelsen are rumored to be being considered for the part of Doctor Doom.
Fantastic Four is scheduled for a 2025 release.
