When David Corenset was announced as the new Clark Kent/ Superman in Superman: Legacy, replacing Henry Cavill in James Gunn’s DCU, it provoked mixed reactions among ardent DC fans. While some fans rejoiced at the casting decision, some fans were furious with the decision because Corenswet had a striking resemblance with Cavill. Some even stated that the actor was the “carbon copy” of the Enola Holmes actor.

Even though David Corenswet’s announcement was not a positive one, it looks like he is starting to turn his haters into his fans. The freshly casted actor has taken his role seriously and he has bulked up for the role he will play in the rebooted DCU. It looks like the Corenswet is dedicated to proving his haters wrong by having the perfect physique to play the Last Son of Krypton.

David Corenswet’s Transformation Picture Sets The Internet Abalaze

David Corenswet was announced as the new Superman, and many fans questioned the decision of his casting. Primarily because the actor had an uncanny resemblance with Henry Cavill. Secondarily, people didn’t believe he could bulk up enough for the Superman physique. There’s a certain body type that a majority of the fans expect the character to have, that is, tall and built with broad shoulders and a square jaw.

However, when a fan account shares the transformation picture of the actor working on the set of a new documentary on the work of artist Jon Schueler. He was acting as the documentary’s cinematographer, and while working on the job few pictures were captured. Fans could not control their excitement as they showered him with compliments on social media.

A fan states how there’s a certain group of DC fans who would hate any major announcement, giving examples of Michael Keaton, Heath Ledger, and Robert Pattinson, They played their roles passionately, but that group would never learn.

Another fan stated how most of the people who hated the actor did not know anything at all about fitness, hence they would hear the term ‘bulking’ for the first time in their lives.

David Corenswet Loves Henry Cavill’s DC Films

David Corenswet is aware that he has a startling similarity with Henry Cavill. But the actor claims that he is just another fan of The Witcher actor, and he would do everything in his power to do justice to the role. Cavill, who played the role of Kryptonian Savior in Zack Snyder’s DCEU, and the newly casted actor shared his opinion of the Snyderverse movies starring Henry Cavill.

The We Own This City actor stated that learned about his similarity with Cavill, “It came to my attention before the internet got a hold of me”. And he was hoping to play the role of Superman for years, “But my pie-in-the-sky ambition is definitely to play Superman.” 

I would love to see somebody do an upbeat, throwback [take on Superman]. I love the Henry Cavill dark and gritty take, but I would love to see the next one be very bright and optimistic.

And it looks like that Corenswet would bring something new with his role of Superman as James Gunn stated, “The next Superman has to be someone who has all the humanity that Superman has…It’s gotta be somebody who has the kindness and the compassion.” Perhaps he will be a truly different character who would be loved by the fans who hated his announcement.
