Netflix’s One Piece Live Action has been declared as a great show. It is one of the highest-grossing series for Netflix in 2023. The live adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s magnum opus was not an easy task. Netflix had a chain of failures in the anime live adaptation genre. But this time, Eiichiro Oda was present with the team and helped the whole production team to get the best out of the series.

Even though a few changes were made to the anime, the live adaptation was successful in keeping the original essence of the Strawhats, and as a result, it was accepted and loved by all. One of the actors who was exceptionally good was Peter Gadiot. He played the role of Shanks. Even though Shanks does not make any appearance for a long time after the East Blue saga, the live adaptation might bring back Peter Gadiot’s Shanks through a missed out easter egg from the Arabasta arc.

Netflix has renewed One Piece Live Action for a second season, with Eiichiro Oda teasing Tony Tony Chopper’s debut in the upcoming season. One Piece Volume 20’s opening page features Shanks and Koza along with the Rebel Forces. Even though Shanks was not present in the arc, it showed that Shanks was a part of the Reber Forces. One Piece Live Action might take this easter egg and put it to use and bring back Peter Gadiot’s Shanks. But Monkey D. Luffy and Shanks will not meet. The manga and anime have featured over 1000 chapters and episodes since their last meeting.

Even though there were close encounters, they never officially met. If Netflix wants to maintain the authenticity of the series, they will need to delay their meeting. On the other hand, Shanks has had very little screen time in the anime. If the live adaptation keeps bringing him back, the fans will not get any exclusive feeling from it. Nonetheless, watching Shanks is always a treat, so if the executives decide to bring him back, it will be great.

One of the best things about Peter Gadiot’s return will be that Shanks’ stay in Arabasta with the Rebels was canon, even though he never made any anime appearance. One Piece Live Action needs to look out for such easter eggs in the future to connect the dots since it won’t be possible for the series for 1000 episodes.

One Piece Live Action season 2 has begun its production, so it won’t be long for the Strawhats to make their return. Their journey will become tougher with new adversaries waiting for them.
