Although Henry Cavill and even Tom Hardy were repeatedly fan-casted as the next best James Bond, Pierce Brosnan has his eyes on a fellow Irishman. Sidelining Cavill and Hardy, Brosnan believes Oscar nominee Cillian Murphy would do a stunning job as James Bond.

Starring several acclaimed actors, the spy franchise has entertained audiences all around the world. From Pierce Brosnan to Daniel Craig, several enigmatic figures have embodied the charming persona of the titular spy.

However, after Daniel Craig left the franchise after appearing in five movies from 2006 to 2021, it became difficult for producers to find the next best 007. With no one suitable to pass the baton to, fans took the responsibility into their own hands and began sparking rumors with their fan-casting choices.

Tossing around names of big stars like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill, and even Tom Hardy, fans expressed their desire to witness these talents taking on the role of 007. However, nothing has been confirmed so far by the producers about the next James Bond film or the actor. But it seems former Bond actor Pierce Brosnan has a suitable suggestion for who can take on the role of 007 in the next movie. 

Pierce Brosnan Has His Eyes on a Fellow Irishman To be the Next 007 

Speaking with BBC, Pierce Brosnan seemingly sidelined popular choices like Henry Cavill and Tom Hardy, and instead vouched for a fellow Irishman. Suggesting the name of the Batman star Cillian Murphy, Brosnan appeared vouching for the Oscar nominee to play the iconic spy.

Attending the Oscar Wilde Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday night, Brosnan was asked by the outlet about his opinion on which actor should play Bond after Daniel Craig. Given his experience in playing the titular spy character in four films, from 1995 to 2002, Pierce Brosnan suggested Cillian Murphy would do a stunning job.

Cillian would do a magnificent job as James Bond on His Majesty’s Secret Service.” 

Oppenheimer actor Cillian Murphy was also attending the event celebrating Irish talent, when he was vouched for by Brosnan. Given that Murphy has risen considerably in the past few years with his riveting performances, and is currently running for the Oscars, Brosnan might be right to suggest him as the next James Bond.
