Robert Downey Jr. fascinated audiences with his witty and charming portrayal of Tony Stark in the first Iron Man. His star power escalated and his pay in the MCU naturally grew with each film. By the time he starred in the first Avengers film in 2012, he was paid a historic amount that no actor had ever been paid in the MCU up to that point.

While Downey Jr. was paid $500,000 and $10 million for Iron Man and Iron Man 2, he earned a hefty paycheck of $50 million in his next turn as Iron Man in The Avengers (via Celebrity Net Worth). This made him the highest-paid actor in the MCU (and still is) and one of the highest-paid actors of all time up till that point (via South China Morning Post).

However, this huge pay is still way behind what Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason had to pay to get the rare Ferrari 250 GTO. The Pink Floyd drummer had to pay $55 million for the car which boasts exceptional [performance and handling (via SupercarBlondie). Mason and Ralph Lauren are the only celebrities who have managed to buy and own the rare Ferrari model.

In addition to being Iron Man, audiences loved Robert Downey Jr.‘s portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in the two films by Guy Ritchie. The second film came out in 2011 and ever since, talks of a third film have been going on, and both Downey Jr. and Jude Law have expressed interest to return. However, there have not been any exciting updates about the script for Sherlock Holmes 3.

Dexter Fletcher was announced as director of a third film but there there’s no activity about the film. Downey Jr.’s wife and creative partner Susan Downey recently gave an update about a possible third film to ScreenRant. Downey claimed that despite no updates, a third Sherlock Holmes film is very much alive in their hearts.

She further stated that there are still discussions going on every day about Sherlock Holmes. The prospect of Downey Jr. and Law reuniting is exciting for everyone involved but they are still waiting for a great script that warrants doing a third film. Downey said,

I mean, look, no, there’s no update, other than it’s still very much alive in our hearts. Every day we talk about, ‘What is the best next version of that?’

Because anytime I see Robert and Jude [Law] together, which fortunately, I do get to see a few times a year, we hang out, and I’m just like, ‘Can I get these guys back on screen together?’, it’s magic. There needs to be a really strong reason, it needs to be a great story, and we do have some things in the works.

Ritchie has already announced alternate plans for the IP, a young Sherlock Holmes project at Amazon that will star Hero Fiennes Tiffin, who recently starred in Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Regarding Downey Jr.’s run as the character, it remains to be seen whether the makers manage to pull up a compelling script sooner rather than later.
