PlayStation has announced a new update that, quite frankly, none of us were asking for. However, it’s a much-welcomed feature that could help a ton of gamers in a pinch and is simply a fun way to encourage the community to help one another.
Community Game Help is an enhancement for Game Help and will soon debut on the PS5, giving gamers an easier way to receive assistance and support from fellow players.
PlayStation Introduces Community Game Help
When the PS5 originally hit shelves in 2020, Sony had introduced a feature called Game Help. It aimed to make gaming easier by providing hints, tips, and walkthroughs without forcing players to exit their games. It was as easy as accessing the Control Center menu mid-game, and opening the Game Help card.
Now, Sony is taking it a step further with an exciting improvement to the system called Community Game Help, revealed in a recent PlayStation blog post.
Community Game Help expands on the existing Game Help experience by incorporating user-generated content, including helpful hints and videos created from gameplay footage shared by players who opt-in to contribute.
With Community Game Help, all PS5 players, whether they have a PS Plus subscription or not, will be able to access a wider range of game hints and tips. In supported games, players can contribute their own gameplay footage, view hints from fellow gamers, or access hints created by developers.
Essentially, players can take a look at other people’s strategies and solutions to get past a difficult section of a game without even exiting or pulling out a walkthrough on their phone.
How Can I Access Community Game Help On My PS5?
Accessing Community Game Help will be simple for players who know how to get to the current Game Help menu.
By pressing the PS button to open the Control Center and looking for an Action Card labeled with the ‘Hints inside’ icon, players can access a bucketload of helpful content.
Aside from developer hints, players will soon start to see hints labeled “Community Game Help” for content generated from other players’ gameplay footage. You’ll be able to rate the usefulness of these hints.
If you want to contribute to Community Game Help, you just need to opt in to participate from the Settings menu. This allows your PlayStation 5 console to automatically capture gameplay footage during specific in-game activities.
Once captured, the footage is reviewed by moderators and, if approved, published as a Game Help hint. Only raw gameplay footage is uploaded, so your privacy is protected.
Community Game Help will begin rolling out in select games later this year, and Sony plans to expand it to as many games as possible.
